Working with overweight children

10 February 2010 92 views No Comment

Recent evidence strongly suggests that overweight and obese children are likely to remain that way into adulthood. Global statistics state that 22million children under the age of 5 are overweight and that 30% of children are now classed as obese. Annoyingly this is all preventable if children complete 60 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity each day. Getting these children to participate in exercise is the hard thing. Common problems are a lack of self confidence, general low energy levels due to inactivity and poor diet, lack of parental support, lack of choice in interesting and fun exercise activities and little self motivation. HomeHealth Fitness can help with our fun and interactive junior training sessions, based largely around martial arts and exercise routines these sessions are specifically aimed at children with no real interest in sports.
