Its been a good week so far. I’ve been working hard on getting a new trainer over in East London to cover both there and Essex. As the title suggests I have designed some specialist cricket exercises, these are based around core stability and use of the fitball. I have tried a tested these exercises and made them very specific for cricket, both at professional level and amateur. Most involve advanced fitball exercises incorporating shoulder rotation for the bowlers, trunk rotation for the batsmen and very difficult catching drill for the wicket keepers (though they overlap to help all aspects of the game). Now, I was as sceptical as the next man when it came to perceived spiritual forms of exercise such as pilates. I thought it a bit slow, easy, and generally not worth bothering with. I was to get a shock. At the end of my 1st session (with strange pan pipe type music in the background), I wasn’t hot, sweaty or tired at all, I thought, too easy, waste of time. Having a bit of car trouble at the moment, it won’t start very often and thus is as we speak in the garage, not good at all. Apart from a that a lovely morning, been out with a couple of clients for greatruns this morning and generally everyone seems a bit happier at the beginning of spring. It is relatively unusual for me to take on new clients myself, but this I have done this week due to circumstances regarding the client.
