Luckily for me I am soon off skiing, just for a long weekend, but much better than nothing, with 2 young children this is potentially my last boys trip for a while. As a result I’ve been training hard to make sure I’m as fit and strong as possible so I can really make the most of the daylight (and night-time) hours. Sessions have included lots of fitball exercises to strengthen my core including some tricky but brilliantly specific ski turn simulations whilst balancing on the ball, and plenty of the more obvious leg strengthening exercises. All this means I’m physically ready and raring to go. We’re happy to help anyone else you know get fit to ski as well. Just forward on my details. I’ll let you know how it goes, I suspect it will involve a pretty hard core 4 days. Wish me luck.

I stupidly said something like ‘its hardly that difficult is it? Falling straight into the cunning or not so cunningly laid trap, right she says we’ll attempt it together for 2 weeks (set by me due to social engagements). Those who are followers on twitter @homehealthf or even on facebook http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/HomeHealth-Fitness-michaelhomehealthfitnesscom/115187128569134 would have known this as my experiences have been detailed on there. To summarize, it was tricky, especially if you eat in the car regularly as you race between appointments. On one such occasion, yogurt was on the menu, not the drinkable type either (not sure what I was thinking buying it in the first place), needless to say with most of it dropped on an unfortunate area of my tracksuit bottoms, due impart to traffic and impart to the impossibility of it, I realised the whole thing would not be easy. Some meals, lunch for example with time to plan and prepare were OK. The problem is I really like bread and pasta and don’t need not to eat it and that tortured me for the duration. I made it to 12 days, where it all went wrong when I ordered a lovely soup, which came with big chunks of fresh bread. It wasn’t until near the end that I remembered I was wheat free, WAS. I now am much more sympathetic to those on such diets and intend to watch carefully for such traps in the future.

Having had an extremely boring meeting with the business banking person regarding client payment methods I end up getting (though it takes them 2 weeks to set up) a new card machine that means we can now take payments instantly over the phone. This has turned out the be excellent in a number of ways. Lots of time was wasted between both myself and the trainers chasing money and asking whether clients had transfered funds via their internet banking or remembered their cheque book. Not to mention annoying clients by pestering them. The easier it is to pay the more likely people are to do so. So now people can phone me straight after the session and pay by either debit or credit cards instantly. It has also meant that I interact much better with clients that are trained by members of the fitness team. It has, thus far (it hasn’t broken down yet) been very good indeed. I’ll keep you posted.

As is often the trouble with marketing its very tricky to measure exactly how successful these things are. We have nearly 50 ‘likes’ which I think is loads but I’m told thats actually rubbish, how annoying, so please like us on facebook if you can. The idea being that our website then features on lots of profile pages and thus gets more exposure. Its quite hard work and feels a bit sad constantly asking people to like you but I’m assured its worth it, time will tell with that. If nothing else the more ways that people can find you and find out about what you provide the better. It would be nice to get a client and they tell me they found us through facebook though. That would definitely make it all worth while.
